The role focuses on providing deep P&C insurance expertise and ensuring accurate rating structures, pricing models, and data management in policy administration system implementations.

In this role, you will work closely with insurance carriers to understand their rating methodologies, regulatory requirements, and data needs. You will translate these requirements into actionable specifications for the technical teams, ensuring accurate implementation and maintaining data integrity across systems.

Key Responsibilities:

📊 Client Collaboration: Lead detailed requirements gathering sessions with actuarial/underwriting teams, focusing on rating methodologies, factor tables, and regulatory compliance.
🔍 Analysis & Documentation: Analyze and document complex P&C insurance rating structures, algorithms, and data requirements, translating them into technical specifications for implementation.
⚙️ System Implementation: Work with policy administration systems such as Socotra, Guidewire, or EIS to implement and test rating rules, ensuring accurate data translation and regulatory compliance.
📈 Data Mapping & Testing: Develop and validate data mapping specifications and test scenarios for rating validations, supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT) teams.
🔧 Gap Analysis & Troubleshooting: Perform gap analysis between existing rating models and new system capabilities, providing solutions and troubleshooting issues during implementation.
📑 Regulatory & Compliance Expertise: Ensure systems are compliant with state-specific rating requirements, regulatory changes, and rate filing requirements.
🛠️ Impact Analysis: Conduct impact analysis for rating changes, system upgrades, and regulatory updates, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing projects.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of SQL and data modeling concepts.
  • Proficiency in Excel for rating analysis and validation.
  • Experience with business process modeling tools.
  • Familiarity with API concepts and integration patterns.
  • Knowledge of version control systems and documentation tools.

Insurance Domain Knowledge:

  • Minimum of 5 years of P&C insurance experience, particularly in personal or commercial lines rating.
  • Experience with Socotra, Guidewire, or EIS policy administration systems.
  • Deep understanding of insurance rating concepts, including territory rating, experience rating, and schedule rating.
  • Familiarity with ISO rating structures and forms, and ACORD insurance data standards.
