π About the Role
Symmetry is looking for a Canada Tax Research Analyst to join our Tax Research team. Reporting to the Manager of Tax Research, you will be responsible for identifying and tracking tax changes and compliance updates to support Symmetryβs Canada-based products. If you have payroll, tax, or accounting experience and want to impact the HR tech space, this role is for you!
β Key Responsibilities:
- Manage Canada tax jurisdictions and track compliance updates.
- Analyze, interpret, and communicate federal, provincial, and local payroll tax changes.
- Calculate source deductions and net pay for employee payrolls in Canada.
- Contribute to the development of Symmetryβs Canadian Tax Engine and Forms products.
- Research and track Canadian payroll tax legislation and assess its impact.
- Provide compliance insights to clients and internal teams.
- Engage with tax agencies to ensure the latest regulations are applied.
- Collaborate with Marketing to launch payroll tax and compliance content.
- Test and adopt AI-powered research tools to enhance efficiency.
- Participate in Canada payroll industry groups to stay ahead of tax changes.
π― What Weβre Looking For:
β Education: Bachelorβs Degree in STEM, Tax, Accounting, Finance, or Social Sciences.
β Experience: 5-7 years in payroll tax, compliance, accounting, or related fields.
β Certifications (Preferred): National Payroll Institute (PCP) in Canada.
β Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
β Experience with Canadian payroll tax calculations (CPP, EI, QPP, QPIP).
β US payroll tax experience is a plus.
β Knowledge of tools like Google Workspace, Jira, NetSuite, and Airtable.
β Ability to break down complex regulations into clear, actionable insights.
β Exceptional attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
β Must be able to travel quarterly to Scottsdale, AZ (if remote).
