Rush Oak Park Hospital is hiring a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our Family Medicine Department. This is an exciting opportunity to work in an ambulatory care setting, supporting physicians, mid-level practitioners, and registered nurses with patient care.

π Job Overview
As a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), you will play a key role in ensuring efficient patient flow, assisting with vital signs, medical procedures, and point-of-care testing, and providing direct patient support under the supervision of healthcare professionals.
π©Ί Key Duties Include:
- Assisting with patient intake, vital signs, and medical history documentation.
- Preparing patients and exam rooms for physician visits and procedures.
- Administering immunizations, intramuscular injections, and small volume nebulizer treatments.
- Performing phlebotomy, EKGs, and other lab tests.
- Calling patients with test results and medical instructions as directed by the provider.
- Ensuring efficient patient scheduling, follow-ups, and medication refills.
- Maintaining clinic cleanliness, equipment sterilization, and medical supply inventory.
This position is ideal for candidates with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a passion for patient care.
π Required Qualifications
β Education & Certification:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification from AAMA, AMT, NCCT, NAHP, AAH, or NHA (Required upon hire).
- Graduates of Rush Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program must obtain certification within six months.
- CPR certification required at the start date.
β Skills & Experience:
- Strong communication & interpersonal skills.
- Excellent customer service & patient care abilities.
- Organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer proficiency (Epic Ambulatory experience preferred).
β Preferred:
- 1+ year of clinical experience.
- Phlebotomy experience.
πΌ Key Responsibilities
π Patient Care & Support:
- Perform vital signs, height/weight checks, and patient intake procedures.
- Assist physicians with exams, treatments, and minor procedures.
- Administer vaccinations, medications, and nebulizer treatments per protocol.
- Conduct phlebotomy, EKGs, and point-of-care lab tests.
π₯ Clinic & Workflow Management:
- Ensure efficient patient flow and maintain well-stocked exam rooms.
- Assist with appointment scheduling, referrals, and follow-up tests.
- Call patients regarding test results & medication refills under provider guidance.
- Maintain quality control, regulatory compliance, and safety standards.
β This is a patient-facing role requiring strong communication, professionalism, and teamwork.
