Childcare Assistant – Full-Time & Part-Time

Are you passionate about caring for children and supporting their early development? Bethesda Sharing Center in Aberdeen, SD, is seeking dedicated and compassionate Childcare Assistants to join our team. We offer full-time and part-time positions with flexible shifts between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM.

As a Childcare Assistant, you will play an essential role in creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for children aged 4 weeks to school age. Under the supervision of the Operations Director, Program Director, and Head Teacher, you will help plan and implement daily activities, ensuring that every child feels valued, supported, and encouraged to learn.

Job Requirements:

📌 Minimum Qualifications:
✔ Must be at least 18 years old
✔ Ability to pass a Central Registry Check for child abuse/neglect
✔ Must be able to speak, read, and write in English
✔ Must have a high school diploma or GED

📌 Preferred Qualifications:
✔ One to three months of related childcare experience and/or training
✔ Strong communication and interpersonal skills
✔ Ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations

Key Responsibilities:

Childcare & Classroom Support

✅ Assist in the planning and coordination of age-appropriate activities
✅ Provide general supervision and support for children, ensuring their safety and well-being
✅ Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment, including sanitizing toys and learning materials
✅ Work with smaller class sizes to create a more personalized learning experience
✅ Foster positive relationships with children, staff, and families

Teamwork & Professionalism

✅ Be a reliable team player, arriving on time and following scheduled shifts
✅ Work flexible schedules and adapt to different assignments as needed
✅ Maintain a calm and professional demeanor, even in high-energy or challenging situations
✅ Attend and participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and fundraising activities
✅ Assist new team members in feeling welcomed and included

Communication & Reporting

✅ Report any family or staff concerns to the Program Director in a timely manner
✅ Communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, families, and the community
✅ Support co-workers by sharing resources and best practices in childcare
