π About the Role
As a Compliance AML Execution Lead Analyst at Citiβs Jersey City, NJ office, you will be responsible for performing AML risk and compliance reviews, conducting investigations on high-risk cases, and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
This role requires extensive AML expertise to analyze suspicious activities, manage compliance risks, and review cases for accuracy. You will also provide guidance to analysts, assist with audits and regulatory exams, and drive process improvements.
β Key Responsibilities:
- Investigative Research & Analysis: Conduct in-depth investigations into potentially suspicious clients, transactions, and financial activities using internal and external databases.
- Cross-Sector Reviews: Analyze multiple Citi business lines to detect patterns of suspicious activity and mitigate cross-sector financial crime risks.
- Case Documentation & Reporting: Prepare comprehensive case files with detailed findings, supporting documentation, and risk assessments.
- Risk Mitigation & Decision Making: Advise senior management on appropriate actions regarding client relationships, potential terminations, and regulatory reporting.
- Regulatory Compliance & Reporting: Review Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) to ensure compliance with FinCEN regulations and meet SAR filing deadlines (30-day initial SAR, 120-day supplemental SARs).
- Post-Investigative Action Review: Approve or escalate post-investigation recommendations, such as risk rating overrides, KYC feedback loops, and account closures.
- Quality Assurance & Training: Conduct case reviews for accuracy and completeness, mentor analysts, and provide coaching on investigative strategies and regulatory changes.
- Audit & Regulatory Exam Support: Assist management in regulatory exams, internal audits, and compliance reviews, ensuring timely and accurate responses to regulatory inquiries.
- Operational Risk Management: Identify root causes of compliance issues, implement corrective actions, and enhance internal risk management controls.
- Process Improvement & Compliance Strategy: Recommend and develop best practices for AML compliance, ensuring continuous process enhancements to align with evolving financial crime trends and regulatory expectations.
πΉ Required Qualifications:
β 6-10 years of experience in AML compliance, risk assessment, and financial crime investigations.
β 4+ years of experience drafting and/or approving Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) in accordance with regulatory requirements.
β Comprehensive understanding of AML regulations, financial crime typologies, and investigative methodologies.
β Proficiency in financial intelligence software, risk analysis tools, and compliance monitoring systems.
β Excellent analytical, research, and decision-making skills, with a strong ability to identify emerging financial crime risks.
β Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings to senior leadership and regulators.
β Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage complex investigations efficiently.
β Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) for data analysis, reporting, and presentations.
πΉ Preferred Qualifications:
β Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) or similar AML certification.
β Masterβs degree in Finance, Business Administration, Law, or a related field.
β Experience working with financial institutions, regulatory agencies, or law enforcement on financial crime investigations.
β Prior experience leading teams, conducting training, or mentoring AML analysts.
β Understanding of financial transaction monitoring systems and suspicious activity detection methodologies.
