Job Overview

As a Cybersecurity Analyst (AppSec), you will be part of Discover’s Application Security team, working to identify and mitigate security risks in software applications and systems. You will engage with cross-functional teams to implement security solutions, perform risk assessments, and execute threat models to protect critical assets.

Key Responsibilities

✔ Application Security & Threat Modeling:

• Conduct threat modeling for applications, platforms, and systems.

• Identify potential attacks and security gaps, proposing remediation strategies.

• Participate in security design reviews for new applications.

✔ Risk Management & Compliance:

• Perform cybersecurity risk assessments using qualitative and quantitative methodologies.

• Utilize ServiceNow and Cyber Risk System to process security exceptions.

• Work with product owners to address security gaps and ensure compliance.

✔ Collaboration & Security Enhancements:

• Partner with developers, DevOps, and product teams to implement security best practices.

• Deliver written and verbal reports on security findings and risk mitigation strategies.

• Engage in continuous learning of modern cybersecurity threats and countermeasures.

Requirements

🔹 Minimum Requirements:
✔ Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, IT, Business, or related field.
✔ 4+ years of experience in Information Security, Risk Management, or Application Security.
✔ Experience in threat modeling, security assessments, and risk analysis.

🔹 Preferred Qualifications:
✔ 6+ years of experience (if no degree).
✔ Hands-on knowledge of ThreatModeler, CISSP, or GIAC certifications.
✔ Experience working with DevSecOps, cloud security, and compliance frameworks.
