We are looking for motivated, detail-oriented interns to join our Design Technician Internship Program for Summer 2025. This internship offers a real-world experience in civil engineering, allowing students to contribute to the design and development of residential, commercial, and industrial projects.

🔧RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Design Technician Intern, you will work alongside experienced engineers and designers to support the planning, design, and execution of civil engineering projects. Key responsibilities include:

✅ Technical Design Work: Assist with conceptual site layout, utility design, roadway design, site grading, storm drainage, water and sanitary sewer design, and soil erosion control.
✅ Permitting & Compliance: Support floodplain studies, stormwater management design, and regulatory permitting processes.
✅ Construction Support: Work on specifications, construction documentation, and final drawings for real-world projects.
✅ Collaboration: Work closely with multi-discipline teams and contribute to engineering problem-solving.
✅ Documentation & Reporting: Assist in preparing project specifications, reports, and client deliverables.
✅ Time Management & Accountability: Ensure timely submission of timesheets and maintain strong professional relationships with team members.

✅REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

🎓 Educational Background: Currently pursuing a BS in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
🚗 License Requirement: Must hold a valid driver’s license for potential site visits and fieldwork.
📢 Communication Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills to interact effectively with team members and clients.
💡 Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office is preferred.
⏳ Time Management: Ability to work independently and within a team, meet deadlines, and adapt to project needs.
⚙️ Problem-Solving Ability: A strong sense of urgency and initiative to tackle engineering challenges.
🌍 Flexibility: Willingness to work nights and weekends if needed to meet project deadlines.

Work Environment & Physical Demands 🌎

This internship involves both office-based work and occasional field assignments. While working in the office, interns will spend extended periods sitting and using computers. For field assignments, interns may be required to:

✔️ Stand, walk, kneel, or crouch during site visits.
✔️ Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
✔️ Work in outdoor environments and various weather conditions.
