Job Overview

Walmart Global Tech is seeking an experienced Distinguished Architect to lead the Transaction Systems Team in Bellevue, WA. In this role, you will define, develop, and implement high-performing, scalable architectural solutions to enhance Walmart’s retail transaction systems. Your leadership will directly influence customer experience, transaction efficiency, and system reliability, ensuring seamless and secure operations for millions of Walmart customers.

Key Responsibilities

✅ Architectural Leadership – Design, document, and drive the evolution of software architecture to align with business objectives, ensuring scalability, security, and industry compliance.
✅ System Design & Scalability – Build and optimize large-scale, cloud-native systems using Azure, Kubernetes, Docker, and microservices architecture to handle millions of transactions.
✅ Technical Mentorship & Leadership – Guide engineering teams, set coding standards, and ensure best practices in security, performance, and testing.
✅ Cross-functional Collaboration – Work closely with Product Managers, UX/UI Designers, QA Engineers, and DevOps teams to align technology with business needs.
✅ Code Review & Standards Enforcement – Implement coding principles such as SOLID, DRY, and design patterns while ensuring security, maintainability, and performance.
✅ Innovation & Research – Stay ahead of emerging technologies such as GraphQL, Kafka, and AI-driven optimizations, leading research and prototyping efforts.
✅ Technical Delivery & Project Oversight – Align architecture with project milestones and ensure seamless execution while managing dependencies and risk mitigation.
✅ Communication & Stakeholder Engagement – Translate complex technical concepts into clear insights for both technical teams and business stakeholders.

Qualifications & Skills

💡 Minimum Requirements:
✔ Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field + 6 years of experience in software engineering, architecture, or related area. (OR) 8 years of relevant experience without a degree.
✔ Proven ability to design and scale complex software platforms, ensuring modularity, extensibility, and high reliability.
✔ Deep expertise in frontend, backend, and mobile architectures with a strong understanding of cloud-based solutions.
✔ Experience collaborating with distributed teams and aligning technology goals with business priorities.

💡 Preferred Qualifications:
✔ Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
✔ Strong knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA and experience implementing inclusive digital experiences.
✔ Familiarity with Walmart’s accessibility standards, assistive technologies, and digital inclusion best practices.

Salary & Compensation

💲 Annual Salary Range: $156,000 – $312,000
💰 Additional Compensation: Performance-based annual or quarterly bonuses & stock options.
