We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated High School Special Education (SPED) Resource Room Teacher to provide inclusive, differentiated instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs. π― Job Overview:
As a High School Generalist Resource Room Teacher, you will support students with special education needs by implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), developing engaging lesson plans, and collaborating with faculty and parents to ensure student success.

π Key Responsibilities:
π Instruction & Student Support:
βοΈ Provide specialized instruction in a resource room setting to support students with learning disabilities, cognitive challenges, and other exceptional needs.
βοΈ Adapt lesson plans to align with IEPs and 504 Plans, ensuring all students have equal access to educational content.
βοΈ Utilize assistive technology, differentiated instruction techniques, and accommodations to meet student needs.
βοΈ Encourage student independence, confidence, and problem-solving skills in a structured learning environment.
π Assessment & Progress Monitoring:
βοΈ Conduct student assessments and track academic progress based on IEP goals.
βοΈ Modify teaching strategies to address individual learning styles and developmental levels.
βοΈ Maintain accurate records of student progress, behavior management plans, and academic achievements.
βοΈ Work closely with parents, counselors, and school psychologists to evaluate student performance.
π€ Collaboration & Teamwork:
βοΈ Partner with general education teachers to integrate students with special needs into mainstream classrooms.
βοΈ Attend and participate in IEP meetings, faculty meetings, and professional development sessions.
βοΈ Provide training and support to paraprofessionals and classroom aides to ensure consistent student support.
π’ Communication & Parental Engagement:
βοΈ Establish strong communication channels with parents and guardians to discuss student progress and support strategies.
βοΈ Act as a liaison between families, students, and school staff to ensure a positive learning experience.
βοΈ Foster a supportive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that promotes student confidence and success.
π Qualifications & Licensing Requirements:
π Required:
βοΈ Valid Nevada Teaching License issued by the Nevada Department of Education (must be obtained by the time of appointment).
βοΈ Special Education Certification or ability to obtain relevant endorsements.
βοΈ Strong instructional and classroom management skills with an emphasis on differentiated instruction.
π― Preferred:
βοΈ Bachelorβs or Masterβs Degree in Special Education or a related field.
βοΈ Prior teaching experience in a resource room or self-contained classroom setting.
βοΈ Experience with individualized instruction, behavior intervention strategies, and classroom technology.
