Job Overview

Peraton is seeking a Jr Cyber Penetration Tester to support the Department of State’s (DoS) Diplomatic Security Cyber Mission (DSCM) in Arlington, VA. This role is 100% on-site and involves penetration testing, security assessments, and vulnerability analysis to protect DoS networks, systems, and mobile devices.

Key Responsibilities

✔ Penetration Testing & Security Assessments:

Support the Red Cell Team in penetration testing and risk evaluations.
Assess system vulnerabilities and implement security controls.
Perform cloud security testing based on NIST 800-53 CA-8 standards.

✔ Cyber Threat Intelligence & Analysis:

Analyze cyber threats, attack vectors, and vulnerabilities.
Conduct web application security testing (SQLi, XSS, CSRF, etc.).
Stay up to date on cyber attack methodologies and exploitation techniques.

✔ Security Automation & Tool Development:

Use and develop custom security scripts (Bash, Python, JavaScript, PowerShell).
Maintain and enhance Red Cell infrastructure.

Who Should Apply?

🔹 Minimum Requirements:
✔ Bachelor’s degree + 2 years of experience (or 6 years of cybersecurity experience in lieu of degree).
✔ Basic understanding of networking & security principles.
✔ Experience with penetration testing tools (Metasploit, Burp Suite, Nmap, etc.).
✔ Familiarity with network routing, switching, and security configurations.
✔ Ability to analyze security configurations & perform vulnerability assessments.
✔ Must obtain one of the following certifications within 6 months:

CCNA Cyber Ops, CCNA Security, CEH, CFR, Cloud+, CySA+, GCIA, GCIH, GICSP, SCYBER.
✔ Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. citizenship required).

🔹 Preferred Qualifications:
✔ Active Top Secret or TS/SCI Clearance.
✔ Advanced cybersecurity certifications (e.g., OSCP, GPEN, CISSP, GCIH).
✔ Experience working in penetration testing teams, SOC, or Red Team environments.
