Position Overview:

The Manager, Data Engineering will lead the data engineering team at Panda Restaurant Group, overseeing the design, development, and operations of key data flow processes. This leadership role is responsible for ETL processes, performance optimization, and data integration across various systems. The Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams, ensuring that data consistency, quality, and security are maintained at all times. You’ll work closely with Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, and other tools to deliver scalable, efficient, and reliable data solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Development:

Lead and grow a data engineering team, providing mentorship and guidance for both Panda employees and partner service providers.
Ensure that team members are trained and equipped with the necessary skills to deliver high-performance results.
Oversee the hiring and development of new data engineering professionals, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.

Architecture & Implementation:

Design and implement scalable, efficient data solutions using Azure Synapse and Azure Data Factory to meet business needs.
Drive the development and maintenance of ETL workflows for seamless data movement across systems while ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Performance Optimization & Troubleshooting:

Identify and implement improvements for existing data pipelines, ensuring optimal performance across the board.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues, actively monitoring data solutions to minimize downtime and maintain system efficiency.

Data Integration & Security:

Work with cross-functional teams to integrate data from various sources, ensuring data quality, consistency, and reliability.
Enforce data security and compliance standards in collaboration with the security team to ensure all data solutions meet organizational and regulatory requirements.

Collaboration & Innovation:

Collaborate with data services leadership to manage budgeting, technology procurements, and data quality monitoring.
Research and implement new technologies within the data and analytics space, driving adoption and innovation.

Requirements:

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems.
Minimum 3 years of experience in a leadership role in data engineering.
At least 5 years of experience in BI technologies and developing ETL workflows, ideally in a retail or hospitality environment.
Proven expertise in Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, and mainstream data warehouse and ETL technologies.

Other Requirements:

Must be able to complete initial and periodic training courses.
Obtain a valid Food Handler’s Card within 30 days of employment (required).

Work Environment & Physical Demands:
