Magellan Health, Inc. is actively hiring a Personal Financial Counselor (PFC) to support military service members and their families at assigned military installations. This role is essential in providing expert financial education, one-on-one counseling, and resources to help military personnel navigate financial challenges and make informed decisions.

As a Personal Financial Counselor, you will work directly with service members, commanders, and other professionals to offer guidance on budgeting, retirement planning, debt management, and financial readiness. πŸ“Œ Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for providing a full spectrum of financial counseling services at military installations.

πŸ”Ή Your Daily Tasks Will Include:

  • Conducting one-on-one financial counseling sessions for service members and their families to provide guidance on financial planning, debt management, and goal setting.
  • Developing customized spending plans and financial strategies to help military personnel manage their finances during deployments, relocations, and career transitions.
  • Creating and distributing educational materials on topics such as savings, credit management, home buying, military benefits, and retirement planning.
  • Organizing and leading financial workshops and seminars covering financial topics across the military lifecycle, including arrival at the first duty station, deployment readiness, post-deployment financial adjustments, and transition to civilian life.
  • Coordinating with military leaders and installation Points of Contact (POC) to ensure financial education programs align with military needs.
  • Utilizing virtual counseling tools such as secure online chat, video conferencing, and teleconferencing to support service members remotely.
  • Managing “Duty to Warn” situations in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) policies, ensuring service members receive necessary assistance.
  • Maintaining accurate records and participating in team meetings to share insights, trends, and recommendations.
  • Engaging in continuous training and development to stay current with financial regulations, military benefits, and best counseling practices.

πŸŽ“ Qualifications & Requirements

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented professional with strong financial expertise and a deep understanding of military financial challenges.

βœ… Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (OR)
  • Associate degree + 4 years of financial counseling experience (OR)
  • High school diploma + 6 years of financial counseling experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of financial counseling experience
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and fluent in English
  • Must be able to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 1 investigation

πŸ”Ή Required Certifications (Must have at least one of the following):

βœ” Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC)
βœ” Certified Financial Planner (CFP)
βœ” Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC)
