Job Overview
We are currently seeking a dedicated Early Childhood Education Teacher to join our Head Start Program. The primary goal of this role is to provide quality educational and developmental experiences for children aged three to five. Your work will help lay the foundation for academic success and ensure that our children are equipped with the social, cognitive, and physical skills needed for future learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and Implement Lesson Plans: Plan and prepare educational activities that cater to children’s developmental stages, ensuring they meet Head Start performance standards.
- Assess and Monitor Progress: Observe and assess the educational needs of children, establishing learning goals and tracking their development.
- Engage with Families: Communicate regularly with parents regarding their child’s progress, and conduct home visits as part of our ongoing support.
- Collaborate with Team: Work closely with the Teacher Aide/Assistant to ensure that classroom activities run smoothly and efficiently.
- Provide Reports: Track and report on student outcomes, ensuring children’s developmental progress is accurately documented.
- Ensure High Standards of Care: Maintain a safe and healthy environment by adhering to the highest standards of child care practices and following state guidelines.
- Perform Additional Duties: Take on bus, kitchen duties, and assist with other assigned responsibilities as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
To be considered for this position, applicants must meet at least one of the following criteria:
- An Associate, Bachelor’s, or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education.
- An Associate degree in a related field with relevant coursework in Early Childhood Education and experience in teaching preschool-age children.
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher with coursework equivalent to Early Childhood Education and prior experience teaching preschool-aged children.
- A Bachelor’s degree and admission to the Teach For America program, along with participation in training specific to teaching preschool children.
In addition to the above qualifications, the following are required:
- A valid Florida driver’s license
- Successful completion of a Level II Background Screening
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook
- Completion of the State of Florida’s Child Care Standards Administrative Code 65C-22.003 (2) & (6) mandatory training
- Completion of the State of Florida Child Care Staff Credential Verification Application
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience teaching preschool-age children
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education
